Council Place 1
DM Collins was elected to the Center Point, AL City Council on August 25, 2020. She currently serves as Council President, Place 1 Council Member, Economic Development Committee Chair, and Planning and Zoning Board Commissioner for the City of Center Point. In January 2022, Collins was appointed to the National League of Cities’ Community and Economic Development Committee. She works to improve economic development and enhance the quality of life for all residents within Center Point through policies, programs, and partnerships.
Collins was born and raised in Birmingham and is a graduate of Ramsay High School. She holds her MSc in Health Services Administration and certification in Biotechnology Regulations. Collins is also a Certified Municipal Official through the Alabama League of Municipalities.
She has a heart for serving people; her son and passion for her community keeps her motivated to serve as Council President.
Employment & Community Service
A healthcare professional for over 10 years, Collins currently works in Biotechnology Regulatory Affairs at a prominent Cancer Center in Alabama. She is an advocate for mental health and social/criminal justice reform. As an Impactor for Impact Counseling, a local nonprofit organization, her support helps provide counseling, mentoring, and family strengthening support services for the community. She is also a supporter of the Innocence Project, an organization that works to reform the criminal justice system.
